Wooden Masaai Warrior

Wooden Masaai Warrior
A life size Masaai Warrior was made with Tambooti wood with hair, clothes and jewellery. Named Philimon by his owners, he was shot by armed robbers during an aborted house burglary. Two other wooden sculptures of men can be seen at the Mbombela civic centre in Nelsruit. Ebony & Ivory were commissioned to celebrate our Rainbow Nation

Vespa Scooter

It is surprising how many mechanical objects one can find in driftwood when you are searching for them. The flanges on the cylinder head on the 150cc engine are from wood that had the soft grain eaten away by termites. The scooter sculpture is made in two thirds scale from a 1959 model
